Matt Taven No Longer With AEW

Matt Taven is a free agent.

Fightful Select has learned that AEW will not be renewing the contract of Matt Taven. This news brings Taven’s multi-year run with the company to an end.

After debuting for the company on an October 2022 episode of AEW Rampage, Taven started regularly working for AEW and ROH alongside his long-time tag team partner, Mike Bennett. At the end of 2023, Taven and Bennett captured the ROH World Tag Team Championships from MJF. The reign lasted 234 days before Taven and Bennett dropped the belts to Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara on an episode of AEW Collision.

Following the title loss, Taven and Bennett continuing wrestling for ROH. Throughout 2025, the duo only wrestled in six matches for the company, with the last bout being taped back in October.

Throughout his 17 year history in the business, Taven has also wrestled for promotions like TNA Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and CMLL.
