Mauro Ranallo Wanted To Commentate For NXT In The Beginning

Mauro Ranallo says NXT suits his lifestyle.

In 2017, Mauro Ranallo was commentating on Smackdown but would eventually leave the show and WWE all together. Later that year, he returned to WWE but would be in the booth at NXT. In an interview with the CBS Sports podcast In This Corner, Ranallo said NXT was a better fit with his busy schedule of commentating with multiple companies.

"I think there's a variety of factors....I'm blessed to be the voice of many major combat sports whether it's Showtime Championship Boxing, whether it's Bellator MMA or kickboxing, whether it's other voice over opportunities, and other hosting opportunities. The schedule I was leading throughout 2016 into 2017, it was not only taking a toll on my physical health but my mental health as well," said Ranallo.

Not only did NXT fit with Ranallo's career, he said he always wanted to be a part of NXT.

"Really it was a personal choice based on the lifestyle that I lead. But honestly, in the beginning I even said when they first approached me about working with WWE 'Is it for NXT?," said Ranallo.

On April 7th, Ranallo will be appearing on NXT Takeover: New Orleans where he will be commentating. Fightful Wrestling will have live coverage and a recapping podcast for the event.
