Maven: I Never Saw Vince McMahon Relinquish Control Of WWE

Maven says he didn’t foresee Vince McMahon relinquishing his position in WWE.

It’s been a few years since Vince McMahon stepped down from his role in WWE. This was one of those happenings that nobody quite expected, including Maven.

Speaking with Wrestling Life Online for a new interview, the wrestler was asked if he expected Triple H to have the role in WWE that he does today. Maven says he, alongside other wrestlers, expected this to happen. But he never thought Vince would ever leave.

“Oh yeah. I mean, we all saw where it got. We all knew he was cleverly positioning himself for where he is. The one thing I would have never, if the prediction markets would have been open back then, was Vince McMahon ever relinquishing his control, his hold on the business that I know he loved more than anything. I did not foresee that,” he said.

Maven says he saw Triple H as second in command, and then praises the work he’s doing today.

“I always saw Hunter as kind of being the second in command. But we all knew that where he is today, that’s what he wanted. Make no mistake about it, there’s nobody that knows, loves, or cares about the health of professional wrestling more than Hunter. He knows the business. Wrestling is in good hands. I can say, ‘I wish him well.’ I need the WWE. I need it to be successful for my livelihood, for me to be able to have success. Because when wrestling is on the mainstream, we do better.’

Elsewhere in the interview, Maven elaborated on his recent comments about Triple H. Fans can read more about it here.
