Maven: Whenever Someone Says They Watched Me Lose, I Correct Them. You Watched Me Get Paid

Maven busts the myth of the winner's purse in WWE.

In theory, the concept of the winner's purse makes great sense in all combat sports. However, in the predetermined landscape of professional wrestling, the concept of someone planning to win a match getting paid more money than the person who agreed to lose might only make sense in the world according to Pete Rose.

Former WWE Superstar Maven, who spent plenty of time in WWE looking up at the lights, busted the myth of WWE Superstars getting paid more for matches that they win in a recent video posted to his YouTube channel. Maven quipped that whenever somebody says they watched him lose, he would tell them they simply watched him doing his job and getting paid.

"This one always cracks me up. I've had fans come up to me before and tell me, 'Yeah, I watched you wrestle, and in the match I watched, you lost.' Like I give a shit," he said with a laugh. "Anytime they say, 'I saw you lose,' I correct them. 'No, you saw me get paid.' Al Snow had the best shirt, 'Pin me. Pay me.' To have the hero, you have to have a villain. To have a good guy, you have to have a bad guy. To have a winner, there must be a loser. If the guys are both main event guys, there's no way that whoever wins is just going to make more money than whoever loses. For that reason, this one is most definitely not true. This one is false."

That settles that. However, several of the top winners in WWE history have made a good chunk of change over the years. To learn how much Maven made during his time as a WWE Superstar, click here.
