Maxxine Dupri: Before Chad Gable Lost His Mind, I Loved Working With Him

Maxxine Dupri speaks on how Chad Gable lost his mind and how she loved working with him beforehand in Alpha Academy

Maxxine Dupri speaks on how Chad Gable lost his mind and how she loved working with him beforehand in American Academy.

Last year, Chad Gable would begin a slow descent into madness after watching Sami Zayn win the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 40, leading to him leaving American Academy (Maxxine Dupri, Otis and Akira Tozawa). However, Maxxine admits that she loved working with Gable prior to him ‘losing his mind’.

While speaking to The Wrestling Classic in a new interview, Maxxine Dupri spoke about working with Chad Gable and Akira Tozawa.

“So before Chad lost his mind, I loved working with him. I learned so much from him. He’s someone whose advice I really take to heart because until he went off the deep end, prior to that, he wasn’t a big yapper. He was only telling me the things that were important for me to fix for my success. I feel that during that time, I learned so much from him about the business, about the moments that matter, about how to make those moments matter. Another person who is a man of few words but who always gives me advice only when needed is Tozawa. Tozawa is an insanely talented wrestler, for starters. He’ll watch my matches, and he’ll only tell me the things that’s like, ‘hey, next time, try this,’ and I’ll do it. I’m like, ‘my god, that was so much easier. Why have I not been doing that this whole time?’ But he has all these little tricks up his sleeve and it just is those little things that perfect those movements. I think it’s why when I watch his matches, Chad Gable’s matches, they’re so smooth, they’re timing, they’re nuances. It’s like, you just want to like, it’s like you’re in dreamland watching them fly around, you know? So I really appreciate that approach of like, you know, we’re not critiquing, you know, every little thing, but there’s things that we can actually fix in this exact moment that’s going to change you for the better, and that is what I need. I need those pieces of advice.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Maxxine spoke about advice that she received from John Cena. You can read more about that here.
