Maya World Reflects On Match Against Mercedes Moné At Forbidden Door, Thinks She’ll Be Chasing That Feeling For Remainder Of Her Career

Maya World reflects on the highlight match.

The 2026 installment of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door featured the finals of the men’s and women’s Owen Hart Cup tournament.

On the women’s side, Mercedes Moné clashed with Maya World. In what was a near 25-minute bout, Moné came out on top to win the tournament and secure a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In.

While doing a signing for Highspots, Maya World looked back on the bout and said being in the ring with Moné is probably a feeling she’ll be chasing for the rest of her career.

“Oh, definitely,” World agreed that her match against Mercedes Moné in the Owen Hart Cup final is the highlight of her career thus far. “It probably won’t be a blip. Mercedes is like my idol, so, honestly, probably one of the things I’ll probably be chasing — that feeling — of being in the ring with her the rest of my career. But, yeah, it was an amazing time.”

World is going to be in the Casino Gauntlet match at AEW Dynamite: Beach Break on July 8th. The winner will challenge for the AEW Women’s World Title at the Redemption pay-per-view on July 26th.
