Maya World Reveals Heart-To-Heart With Mercedes Mone After AEW Forbidden Door
Maya World got to face her idol at AEW Forbidden Door in the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament, going one-on-one with Mercedes Mone.
It was a meteoric rise for Maya, who wasn’t originally scheduled to be in the tournament, but replaced an injured Sareee.
Though she didn’t win, the memory of facing Mercedes on such a stage will last forever.
“I don’t know what I expected, but it was kind of everything I expected or wanted and more. Obviously, not the wardrobe malfunction, but everything else. It was kind of surreal and it didn’t settle in until after in the locker room when I had this heart-to-heart with her where I broke down crying like, ‘Thank you so much for everything you do in wrestling.’ That’s probably when it finally settled in for me. Also, her walking to the ramp- I was so numb to a lot of stuff because of course what happened, but it finally settled in as I saw her walking down the ramp,” Maya told Shirleigh of Fightful.
One month after the match, Maya would win the AEW TBS Title from Hikaru Shida.
As of now, she is not scheduled to defend the title at AEW All In, but she hopes that changes. You can find her full comments on what she wants at All In by clicking here.
