Mayu Iwatani To Defend Women Of Honor Title Against Konami In Stardom

ROH announced that Mayu Iwatani will defend her WOH Title against Konami on Feb. 24 in Stardom.

“The Goddess of STARDOM” Mayu Iwatani captured the Women of Honor World Championship in Miami at Bound by Honor, defeating the dominant Kelly Klein following two moonsaults. Following her victory, Mayu pledged to defend the World Championship all around the globe, including her home promotion STARDOM.

ROHWrestling.com has confirmed with both Ring of Honor and STARDOM officials that Mayu’s first defense will take place in Osaka, Japan on February 24 against submission expert Konami! Mayu has already Tweeted her excitement for this bout after the green light was given for the title defense and sees it as a major test.

Mayu is recovering from an injured knee that was not made any better following her hard-fought victory over Kelly Klein in Miami and knows it will be a target for Konami in Osaka. Ring of Honor officials will be present in Osaka to sanction the defense and to be available for comment should the Championship change hands!

 On February 17, Konami, representing Queen’s Quest, made the challenge in ring to Mayu. The two shook hands and very shortly after, the match was made official.
