Memphis City Council Approves Renaming Street After Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler

An honor for Jerry Lawler.
The Commercial Appeal has a story up about Memphis, Tennessee, renaming a street after WWE Hall of Famer Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler.
The Memphis City Council held a meeting on June 9th, and during it, a resolution was passed to make it official. It had been on the council’s consent agenda, and all council members supported it.
The resolution has passed, but a date for the street naming has yet to be announced.
Lawler is from Memphis and made his name in pro wrestling in the city. Back in 1999, Lawler ran to be the mayor of Memphis.
He suffered his third stroke in September 2025. Lawler said he’s not ruling out a return to the ring.
