Michael Cole Releases Emotional Tribute Video Ahead of Announcing John Cena’s Final Match

Michael Cole doesn’t post on social media often, so when he does it’s a big deal. Ahead of John Cena’s final match on Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cole released a two minute video package highlighting the legacy of Cena.

The 17-time World Champion will step into the ring one final time against Gunther. As has been the case for most of Cena’s career, Michael Cole will be on the call. Cole acknowledged it will be an emotional night, and he apologized in advance for his biased commentary.

“John Cena has meant everything to me. My career will be forever intertwined with the greatest of all time, only because I was in the right place at the right time,” Cole said. “I can’t believe that later tonight will be the final time my longtime friend will step into a WWE ring.”

Cole referred to Cena as the greatest of all time not once, but twice. It’s clear just how much Cena has meant to Cole’s career, especially with how the video opening. Cole compared his relationship with Cena to Gordon Solie’s with Dusty Rhodes and Jim Ross’s with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.

Throughout his entire journey with WWE, Cole has lived by the words hustle, loyalty, and respect. On Saturday Night’s Main Event, he’ll pour his heart out once more as Cena’s final match is just hours from becoming a reality.
