Michael Cole: "Renee Young Is Going To Go Down As One Of The Great Analysts That We’ve Ever Had"

Michael Cole with some high praise for Renee.

Michael Cole has been with WWE since 1997 and a part of their commentary team since 1999. Cole was the leading voice of the SmackDown brand and once WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross stepped back from the position of lead commentator, Cole took over as the voice of the main roster shows and is now the lead commentator on Monday Night RAW.

Over the past two years Cole has had the pleasure of calling the first-ever WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament and was on the call for the 2018 Mae Young Classic tournament. Alongside Cole for the Mae Young Classic tapings was WWE Hall Of Famer Beth Phoenix and Cole's RAW co-broadcaster Renee Young. That M.Y.C. broadcast team is reuniting this Sunday to call WWE's first-ever all-women's PPV 'Evolution'. As the pay-per-view nears closer, the female superstars of the company have been doing a plethora of PR to promote the show. Dave Schilling of Bleacher Report profiled Renee Young ahead of 'Evolution' and talked to Renee's colleagues - one of which was Michael Cole who had the following to say about Renee:

“When all is said and done, Renee is going to go down as one of the great analysts that we’ve ever had, because you have to stand out in this business,” Cole says. “Renee will stand out because she’s offering something that’s never been done before. Forget the fact that she’s a woman. Put that aside. That’s become a footnote now. She’s different because never before have we had in the wrestling business what Renee offers to the announce booth. It’s that innate ability to talk to people, to be able to dig underneath the surface and find out what makes these superstars tick.”

'Evolution' is being covered at great lengths here on Fightful including a post-PPV podcast that goes live immediately after the event concludes.
