Two depart from NJPW.
NJPW announced that Michael Elgin and Teruaki Kanemitsu have left the promotion.
Elgin's contract expired on Mar. 31 and the decision was made not to renew his deal. Elgin was part of the 32-man field in the New Japan Cup, losing to Kazuchika Okada in the first round. He last wrestled for the promotion at the New Japan Cup Finals, teaming with Toa Henare & Colt Cabana to defeat TenKoji (Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima) & Shota Umino. Elgin made his full-time debut for NJPW in 2015 as part of the G1 Climax tournament. He is a former NEVER Openweight and IWGP Intercontinental Champion.
Kanemitsu was a young lion who suffered a cervical spine injury in 2016. The injury sidelined him for two years. He returned at the Dec. 15, 2018 Road To The Tokyo Dome show, teaming with Ren Narita in a loss to Ayato Yoshida & Shota Umino. That bout almost marks his last appearance in the promotion. He made his debut in January 2016.
