"Big Mike" is returning to Japan.
"The Unbreakable" Michael Elgin is currently in pursuit of the IMPACT World Championship and will have his shot at the title at Slammiversary XVII on July 7th. Elgin has an opportunity to return to Japan as IMPACT World Champion as it was announced by Big Japan Pro Wrestling that Elgin is coming to the promotion and he will be taking on former 8-time BJW Tag Team Champion Daisuke Sekimoto on August 24th at Korakuen Hall. The IMPACT World Title challenger is also slated to appear on August 25th at Big Japan Pro Wrestling's 'Death Mania VIII' show along with Atsushi Onita and former 3-time Dragon Gate Open The Dream Gate Champion Masaaki Mochizuki.
Michael Elgin was a part of New Japan Pro-Wrestling for five years until he departed from the company earlier this year. Elgin's contract with New Japan expired on March 31st and he made the decision not to re-sign. During IMPACT Wrestling's recent broadcasts, it has been brought up by IMPACT co-Executive Vice President and commentator Don Callis that Elgin departed from Japan due to him no longer wanting to wait on opportunities.
As mentioned, Michael Elgin will be challenging Brian Cage for the IMPACT World Championship at Slammiversary and to get a look at the match card for that show, click here.
