Michael Oku says that he and Amira take a lot of inspiration from Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth.
Oku and Amira have been one of the top acts in the United Kingdom for the past several years as Michael has slipped into the position that Will Ospreay previously held on the British wrestling scene, as well as the pair featuring on AEW programming several times over the past couple of years.
While speaking to the Mega Powers podcast in a new interview, Michael Oku spoke about his immediate goals in wrestling and noted during his answer that he and Amira take a lot of inspiration from Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth.
“I mean, it’s kind of a vague answer, but it’s a broad one, a big one, and it is to keep going forward and to take that next step. I want to keep making noise. I want to keep seeing where I can go that’s going to grab people’s attention. Yeah, myself and Amira, I feel like we’ve got something special together as an act. It’s funny enough, the name of your podcast. Right. You know, we do take a lot of inspiration from Macho Man and Elizabeth. Kind of what we’re doing, and we want to see how far we can take, you know, a heroic… here’s a couple who are a heroic act, have good morals, and we want to take it to main events of, if it is in AEW, if it’s beyond, if it’s elsewhere, we’re open to it. We’re flying out to Mexico tomorrow. We’re going around the world. We’re making this a thing, and I think us being household names, that’s the ultimate goal.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Oku spoke about attending his first ever wrestling live show. You can read more about that here.
