Mick Foley opens up about The Undertaker not mentioning him in his Hall of Fame speech.
The Undertaker finally took his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame on Friday, April 1, 2022. Between his speech and Vince McMahon's induction speech, many great names were mentioned. From Yokozuna and Brian Lee to Shawn Michaels and Triple H, many of the standout names that Undertaker wrestled over his illustrious career got a shout-out that night.
One name that was shockingly omitted was the name of Mick Foley. In 1996, Mick Foley started his journey in WWE as Mankind by attacking The Undertaker and the two engaged in a legendary rivalry over the course of the next two years that would culminate in a very scary Hell in a Cell match in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania at the 1998 King of the Ring. Many fans were surprised that Mick Foley's name wasn't mentioned, voicing their opinion on social media.
Speaking to Baby Huey on the In the Kliq podcast, Mick Foley that he isn't worried about not being mentioned as he understands that during all of Fame speeches some names can be forgotten in the heat of the moment. Foley even admitted that he forgot to thank his wife during his 2013 speech. The Hardcore Legend also said that he isn't concerned about being omitted because he is in good company as The Undertaker also did not mention The Rock or Stone Cold Steve Austin.
One thing is for sure, however. Mick Foley is not bothered by it and doesn't want anyone else bothered on his behalf.
“Well, listen, maybe I forgot to mention my wife during my speech. So I'm not one to lecture anybody about who they should and should not include in their speech,” he joked. “You know, I was not there in those formative years and his speech was more about friendship and support. We had a great rivalry, but he didn't mention The Rock or Austin and he and Austin had some classics as well. So, if I'm not hurt, no one can be hurt on behalf of me.”
Mick Foley also reiterated how important it was for him to see Vader take his rightful place in the Hall of Fame.
“It meant a lot to me because I knew how much meant to him when he was alive and he has got a son who idolized his dad and yeah… So I always thought he was the most glaring omission and now he is his rightful place.”
