Mick Foley once again makes it clear that his 2004 WWE Backlash match with Randy Orton for the WWE Intercontinental Championship was his favorite match of all time.
Mick Foley had already retired as a full-time competitor for four years when he decided to help make Randy Orton into the legend he would become by working a long-term program with him. That program included what would be The Rock's final match for eight years at WrestleMania 20 in Madison Square Garden and culminated in a No Holds Barred match at WWE Backlash.
Discussing the match with Denise Salcedo at Comic Con Revolution in Ontario, California, Foley said that it was his favorite match he'd ever been a part of, featuring his favorite elbow drop. He was glad to get the audience to see a new side of Randy Orton.
"It was my favorite match of all time. I remember dropping that elbow on Randy and thinking it was the most perfect elbow I'd ever dropped. I also remember the feeling like he was growing in front of people's eyes. You know, people are getting to see a different side of Randy Orton. They really embraced it. I think it was a really good match for both of us. "
Elsewhere in the interview, he spoke about the most challenging part of portraying the Mankind character in early 1996. Read his comments here.
