Mickie James finds it sad that women are told to retire at the age of 35 while men continue to get opportunities in their 50s. James hasn't been a regular on WWE television since September 2020, though she is now healthy and part of WWE Legends Nights in January.
While James is a WWE legend, she is curious as to why she is on the shelf at the age of 41 while someone like Bobby Lashley, who is 44, is the reigning WWE Champion or Goldberg, 54, can get a WWE Title opportunity anytime he decides to step back in the ring.
Taking to social media and responding to a post by Taya Valkyrie, James weighed in on the double standard when it comes to age in wrestling.
James entered the Royal Rumble at number 19 and lasted just over seven minutes before being eliminated by Lacey Evans.
She is currently unassigned to a brand and it is unknown when she will return to the ring.
