In early 2010, Mickie feuded with LayCool over the WWE Women's Championship. During the feud, Michelle McCool and Layla mocked the appearance of the former champion, leading to Mickie gaining vengeance, and another title run, at the 2010 Royal Rumble.

Mickie James was recently on Ring the Belle and provided a retrospective look on the controversial storyline and how difficult the subject matter was for all participants at times.

Credit to the Ring The Bell team for passing along the following quote.
