Mike Bailey: I Don’t Think I’m Anywhere Near My Peak

Mike Bailey hasn’t peaked yet.

Even with 20 years of experience under his belt, Bailey is insisting that he isn’t anywhere near his peak when it comes to professional wrestling. In a new interview with Adrian Hernandez of Unlikely, the Quebec native spoke about having continued progression throughout his career.

“It’s weird because I want to say I’m at the same place that I have been my entire career, which is I’m the best I’ve ever been. But strangely, that was never not the case, but also my biggest accomplishment in my life and my pro wrestling career is continued progress and never regressing or slowing down. I’ve just been getting better and better throughout the years and I don’t think I’m anywhere near my peak, which is a great thing because I’m going to be in the ring with Kevin Knight every week, I’m going to need to keep pushing and getting better and better otherwise I will be left in the dust because Kevin Knight is undoubtedly a man with absolutely no ceiling on what he can accomplish in professional wrestling.”

Continuing on, Mike Bailey praised the company for making a series of great decisions as of late.

You talked about us being some of the best signings, I think AEW is doing fantastic right now and it’s due to a very long series of great decisions, including highlighting stars like Kevin Knight and I put myself in the same basket. I think all those decisions and great signings, of which there have been so many in the last year. We’re talking about Thekla, who is the current AEW Women’s World Champion. Megan Bayne, of course. The addition of more stars from Mexico to the roster like Hechicero, Mascara Dorada, and just announcing that Mistico has a double contract and Persephone, who is absolutely crushing it right now. I really think that AEW is getting even better and I am so excited for the run we’re on right now.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Bailey gave his take on exclusive contracts in wrestling. Fans can check out his full comments by clicking here.
