Santana is the current TNA World Heavyweight Champion and has been no stranger to complimenting those who influenced him and advised him on his wrestling career over the years. Now, he has noted that a technician of a past era has not gotten the credit he feels they deserve.
While speaking to The Humble Roses podcast in a new interview, Mike Santana was asked to name a match that he feels doesn’t get enough credit, with Santana noting a bout from All Japan Pro Wrestling.
“Damn, you threw me off with that one. I feel like guys like Dean Malenko don’t get enough credit. I feel like he was a big mentor for me, especially back a few years ago. I feel like he doesn’t get enough flowers. He’s one of the best ever. Especially even when he was a tag team with his brother Joe in All Japan. They were doing some revolutionary stuff. I feel like, actually, his match is the Malenkos versus the, what was it, the Malenkos against the Bulldogs, All Japan.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Mike spoke about AJ Styles potentially coming out of retirement in the future. You can read more about that here.
