Mike Santana shares the pride he feels by inspiring others not only with his wrestling, but with his personal life.

The current TNA world champion has a well documented history with addiction, and has fought back from the low point in his life to being one of the most trusted talents in the company.

While speaking to Medd In The Morning, Mike Santana was asked about being an inspiration and if it hinders him or not.

“Honestly, I take a lot of pride in it. It’s definitely a lot of pressure because, as you know, there’s all eyes on you, right? Everyone is looking to you for inspiration or for guidance or for whatever it is, but it’s something I take a lot of pride in. Before I got into wrestling when I was younger, I used to always say that I wanted to do something that was going to help people, and I got to a point where I realized, hey, professional wrestling is my way of doing that. The same way that Bret Hart helped inspire me and helped me believe that this was a possible dream to attain, is the same way that I want to do for someone else, and not just with professional wrestling, but with my personal story and my journey. I think, especially with the addiction stuff, it’s like, it has this stigma of like, a lot of people are very shameful to talk about it. It’s not very talked about, especially in this industry, especially on TV, and I wanted to be the one to change that and have it looked at as, this was a moment in time, but it was also a moment in time that helped inspire me, helped push me and helped fuel a fire to get me to where I’m at today. So, yeah, man, it’s definitely something I take a lot of pride in.”

Elsewhere in another recent interview, Santana noted that TNA’s roster is the best it’s ever been. You can read more about that here.
