Mike Santana Reflects On Retiring Sami Callihan, ‘It Was Definitely Meaningful’
Mike Santana reflects on TNA Emergence.
The Baltimore event was home to the final match of Sami Callihan, as the legend was forced to retire after losing to Mike Santana. This was an emotional moment for a ton of TNA fans, as Callihan was a multi-year champion and tenured veteran of the promotion.
Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Santana reflected on the moment, calling it meaningful.
“It was definitely meaningful. I’ve known Sami over a decade. I first met Sami, damn, I was maybe like 20 years old, 20 / 21 years old. We’ve had a storied history, even going back to my first run at TNA doing the tag team stuff. We’ve had our wars and stuff. So it was definitely meaningful. He’s had a great career. Shouts out to him. I remember when he was out on the independents, killing it against everybody and doing everything everywhere. It was something that I admired and I was like, ‘Oh man, like that’s what we need to be doing.’ Just going everywhere and killing it against everyone. So it was definitely something meaningful.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Santana spoke about his recent TNA World Championship loss. Fans can check out his full comments by clicking here.
