Mikey Rukus is behind the majority of the music fans hear on AEW television both as a producer and singing on tracks.
Some of the most popular tracks in AEW are Adam Cole's theme, FTR's theme, and Keith Lee's theme. Along with creating themes, Rukus enhances the music through storytelling and albums like Who We Are and the Symphony Series.
Speaking to Soundsphere, Rukus was asked about building a legacy through his music in AEW.
"I look at it this way, even though I've been doing music for 10 to 12 years and have been with AEW for the last three years, I'm still building. I'm probably not going to think about legacy until years down the line. I am always thinking of different ways to connect AEW music outside of professional wrestling. I get tagged in messages where Adam Cole's music, FTR's music, Samoa Joe's music are being played inside stadiums and arenas. We just had Adam Cole's music contrived to sheet music for symphonic and concert bands for middle school and high school. These are things I want to focus on; taking AEW music outside to where people can listen to this, not just within the wrestling context, but other outlets of entertainment, whether it be TV, film, sporting events. Then, they kind of connect, 'what is this?' They Shazam it, they see it's AEW, and that draws them to AEW. It's a different form of marketing and a different form of storytelling. Being able to make an impact and investing in younger people that want to do music. I know that the fine arts is a dying type of thing in today's society, but I know there are still ways to inspire young people to create. That's going to be one of my main things going forward and we'll see how it is ten years from now. Maybe then we'll think about legacy, but as far as I'm concerned, I'm in the office every day and always building to the next thing," he said.
