Mistico Wants His Rivalry With MJF To Continue In The United States

Mistico crossed paths with MJF three times in 2025, but only one of those meetings was in the United States. For what it’s worth, it wasn’t even a singles encounter as the two were involved in the Casino Gauntlet that MJF eventually went on to win.

Their two singles matches both took place in Mexico. One was under the AEW brand as part of Grand Slam Mexico, but the other was a monumental Mask vs. Title match at CMLL’s 92nd Anniversary event.

“I admire MJF and I respect him about what he did in this rivalry that was so important for me in this year,” Mistico told SI’s Sid Pullar III. “For sure I took the victory and I became the new CMLL World Light Heavyweight Champion, but this is a rivalry that I want to continue to not only happen in Mexico.”

MJF was the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Champion for 49 days before failing to beat Mistico and take his mask. Even though the legendary performer didn’t suffer a loss to MJF, he knows this rivalry is far from over.

“I want this rivalry to happen in the United States,” Mistico added. “With the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship, I had some defenses in the UK against Michael Oku. A few weeks ago against Soberano Jr. (in Mexico). So I want this rivalry with MJF to continue also in the United States and also here in Mexico.”

Mistico has strong ties to MLW which is a promotion MJF is quite familiar with. Should the two-time Opera Cup winner get his wish and be able to challenge for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship, one could only imagine the environment if MJF returns and challenges Mistico for the title.
