The Miz: I Was The Guy You Couldn't Stand, Like Baron Corbin, For A Long Time

The Miz talks to The Wrap.

The Miz knows all about being the most hated man in WWE. For years, Miz played the dastardly heel who excelled at getting under the skin of his opponents and fans. It wasn't until this year, a feud with Shane McMahon, and "Miz & Mrs" that Miz finally got to show off his more charming side.

Speaking to The Wrap, Miz discussed being hated and how the audience turned him into a babyface.

“It took 13 years for people to realize my talent, I think. If you really think about it– a lot of people say Baron Corbin is that heel that you just can’t stand, you don’t want to watch, blah, blah, blah,” Miz said. “I was that guy for a long time. It took a long, long time. It’s not like WWE changed me to a babyface — it was the audience. And honestly I think it was ‘Miz & Mrs.’ Seeing me on a show, and actually see that I’m not– I hope people see that I’m not as arrogant and cocky and egotistical as I am on TV.”

Miz continued, “And yeah, I do a great job as a bad guy, as a villain, but I’m enjoying this new challenge of being a good guy,” he said. “And guess what? It takes time to develop, even though I am a seasoned vet, even though I’ve been there for so many years. This is a whole different dynamic that I have to get used to, that I have to find.”

Miz hasn't had much success in the ring as a babyface as he lost to Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 35 and Money in the Bank. He did not appear at Stomping Grounds or Extreme Rules. You can read his thoughts on being left off the last two events by clicking here.
