Maxwell Jacob Friedman is excited to build a faction that feels like a throwback with all of the energy of today's wrestling at the forefront.
Two weeks ago, MJF revealed his faction of FTR, Wardlow, and Shawn Spears (with Tully Blanchard). This new group, which would later be dubbed “The Pinnacle.” made their mark by taking out Chris Jericho and the Inner Circle.
Tully Blanchard, of course, was a member of the legendary Four Horsemen. Speaking with Sports Illustrated, MJF revealed what excites him about this new pairing.
“I wanted to take something that was old and put a modern-day spin on it,” says Friedman. “It’s incredible to me that we are so talented that we have Wardlow in a Big Bubba Rogers position. He’s gigantic and a freak athlete. FTR is the best tag team in the world. I’m also so excited for the world to see Shawn Spears. He’s never received the proper spotlight, but now people are going to recognize how incredible he is.”
In a separate interview with TSN, MJF explained how crucial Tully Blanchard is to the faction.
“I’m already the most talked-about name in professional wrestling, I’m already the best promo in professional wrestling – let’s face it, I’m probably already one of the best professional wrestlers in professional wrestling,” MJF said. “But now I have Tully Blanchard at my side. Now I have a guy who I can ask questions to, who I can learn from on a consistent basis. I’m incredible already – can you imagine how great I’m gonna be in a year, two years, three years under this man’s tutelage? It’s scary, is what it is. It’s terrifying. I love it.”
Tonight, members of The Pinnacle will be in six-man tag action. Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern.
