Windsor, Ontario (September 4, 2026) – MAPLE LEAF PRO (MLP) is proud to announce the return of the legendary Can-Am Dojo, reopening in October, 2026 under a new banner and in a new state-of-the-art 4,000 square foot facility in Windsor, Ontario. The historic training ground will relaunch as the MLP Academy, continuing its legacy of developing elite professional wrestling talent.
The MLP Academy will be led by Head Coach Josh Alexander, current AEW Superstar and one of the most accomplished wrestlers of his generation. He will be joined by former TNA President and current MLP President Scott D’Amore, who will serve as MLP Academy General Manager. Together, they bring an unmatched combination of in-ring excellence, experience, and leadership to the next generation of wrestling talent.
The Academy will offer a full spectrum of training, including both beginner and advanced courses, welcoming aspiring wrestlers at all stages of their journey. In addition to regular classes, the MLP Academy will host specialized seminars and clinics featuring top names from across the wrestling industry. These sessions will cover critical aspects of a professional wrestling career, including in-ring technique, promo skills, character development, brand building, etiquette, and professional conduct – ensuring students are prepared for every part of the business both inside and outside the ring.
To further enhance the real-world experience, the MLP Academy will also hold regular trainee showcase events, giving athletes the opportunity to get valuable “game day reps” in front of live audiences. These events will serve as a vital part of each student’s development, simulating the pressure and excitement of performing on a professional stage.
Over the years, the Can-Am Dojo has produced a long list of world-class alumni, including ECW Legend Rhino, AEW Superstars Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, TNA Star Moose, Canadian wrestling greats such as Bobby Roode, Eric Young, and Petey Williams, and international sensations like NJPW’s KUSHIDA and Pro Wrestling NOAH ace Kaito Kiyomiya. The Dojo has also trained notable crossover athletes and celebrities, including NFL great DeAngelo Williams and UFC Hall of Famer Stephon Bonnar.
“The Can-Am Dojo has long been a proving ground for greatness, and we’re ready to write its next chapter,” said D’Amore. “With Josh as Head Coach, the MLP Academy will deliver a world-class training environment that prepares talent for success at the highest levels of the industry.”
“I trained at the Can-Am Dojo. It changed my life,” said Alexander. “This place built me – and now, I’m honoured to give back and help shape the future of this sport. If you’re serious about becoming a professional wrestler, this is where you start.”
