Molly Holly Says She Was Not Scheduled For WrestleMania 20 Until She Mentioned Cutting Her Hair

The Women's Title may not have been defended at WrestleMania XX had Molly Holly not put her hair on the line.

WrestleMania XX took place inside Madison Square Garden on March 14th of 2004 and featured twelve matches with seven of those being for championships. The match card was originally supposed to feature 11 matches including one women's match and that was the 'Playboy Evening Gown' match involving Torrie Wilson, Sable, Miss Jackie and Stacy Keibler.

At the time, the current WWE Women's Champion Molly Holly was not originally slated for the show but it was not until Molly went to WWE officials and proposed the idea of shaving her head at WrestleMania which opened the door for her and Victoria to have their Women's Championship match. The bout lasted six minutes but they were able to compete on the show. Molly and Victoria told the story of how they worked their way onto the WrestleMania card when they sat down with DS Shin for an edition of 'Ring The Belle'.

Molly Holly: “So I was the champion and the writers told me that there was only room for one match -- girls match at WrestleMania and they were going to do a pillow fight or a mud thing with the Divas. I was like, ‘What? I’m the champ and I don’t get to defend my title at WrestleMania?’ I was really devastated so I thought, ‘I’ve got to come up with something that makes them change their minds’. So, I put a bald cap on and had my photo taken and then I made a booklet with a bunch of different storylines that could go either way with showing my head getting shaved and I presented it to Stephanie McMahon, I presented it to some of the writers and I said, ‘I’m willing to shave my head. Can I please be on WrestleMania?’ And sure enough they came back to me a couple of days later and said, ‘Alright, we’re gonna let you get your head shaved at WrestleMania’." Molly said. “And they asked me -- they said, ‘Okay, we’re gonna let you do it. Who do you want to wrestle? Who do you want to be the one to shave your head?’ And I said, ‘You know who has an awesome attitude and works super hard? Victoria.”

Victoria: “I was shocked, and [an] interesting [fact], I didn’t know how to cut hair. I didn’t know how to shave a head. That guy that’s standing behind the ref is actually Vince’s barber, and so I asked him, ‘How do I do this?’ He goes, ‘You need scissors’. I go, ‘Give me the scissors’, [he says], ‘We don’t have scissors’ and then they’re yelling at me, ‘Hurry up. We have three minutes to get you [Molly Holly] bald, and I’m cutting her head, I’m shaving her and they're like, ‘Look like you’re enjoying it’, but I’m really not enjoying it.” Victoria recalled.

Victoria noted over Instagram in January that 2019 will be her last year as a professional wrestler so she is loading up her schedule to close out her in-ring career with a bang.
