Montez Ford: I've Always Had A Dream Of Winning WWE Title, You Can't Do That As A Tag Team Wrestler

Montez Ford wants to win the world title someday.

Since The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) came to the main roster in 2019, they have held both the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championship. The duo lost the SmackDown Tag Team Championship in January 2021, and they have since failed to regain the gold. Ford is often viewed as a breakout singles star in the making, but he and Dawkins have stayed together, even after Ford competed by himself in the Elimination Chamber for teh United States Championship at WWE Elimination Chamber 2023.

Speaking with Jordan Mendoza for USA TODAY Sports, Ford noted that his current goal is to keep chasing the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship with Dawkins. However, Ford made it clear that he would be ready for a singles opportunity, as he wants to do it all.

"As a kid, I've always had a dream to become WWE champion, and you can't do that as a tag team wrestler. You can be a part of a tag team, but it's just me out there. That's always been a dream of mine, and that's one of the things I'm always looking forward to, training for," Ford said.

During the interview, Bianca Belair, Ford's wife, noted that they want to be champions at the same time. Belair lost her Raw Women's Championship to Asuka at WWE Night of Champions 2023.

Angelo Dawkins recently said he doesn't think The Street Profits need to break up to do great things. Check out his comments here.

On the July 14 episode of WWE SmackDown, Ford and Dawkins got into a car with Bobby Lashley after he said he wanted to talk. More information is available here.
