Appearing on the NotSam Podcast with Sam Roberts, Ford discussed his wrestling influence growing up.

"The Rock was the complete package to me. I like the way he carried himself, his posture when he spoke, the mannerisms, and how animated he was. Me and my sister [in high school] used to make entrances coming into the cafeteria, and I was always The Rock. I used to cut promos at school on the teachers and get sent out [of class]. The Rock is my guy."

When asked if he has met The Great One, Ford said, "Since I've been [in WWE/NXT], I've met everyone across the board except for The Rock. I've met Brock Lesnar, John Cena, spoke with The Undertaker back in Dallas at WrestleMania. Everyone except The Rock."

One name who Ford has interacted with on an almost daily basis in NXT founder Triple H. Ford was asked about the best advice he's been given by a WWE legend, and he brought up a quote from The Game.

"Triple H said one time, 'everything happens so fast. Take time to sit back and enjoy it.' That's one of the realest statements I've heard because it does happen fast and it seems like yesterday that it was 2015 when I started. It's one of those things where you've got to sit back and take it all in."

Ford took his first step towards becoming the next Great One when he and Angelo Dawkins captured the NXT Tag Team Titles at TakeOver: XXV. You can read Ford's comments on the closing sequence of the ladder match by clicking here.
