Mustafa Ali: I Don’t Think People Really Realize The Work That Truly Goes Into Defending The TNA International Championship Internationally

Mustafa Ali says that he doesn’t think people really realize the work that truly goes into defending the TNA International Championship.

Ali would make sure that the International in the titles name was warranted during his recent reign as champion, taking the title across the world since capturing the title in April before losing it to Jason Hotch on last week’s edition of TNA iMPACT!

While speaking to Reel Appreciation in a new interview, Mustafa Ali spoke about his title reign, noting that he doesn’t think people really realize the work that goes into defending the title internationally.

“I don’t think people really realize the amount of work that goes into truly defending this championship internationally. I’ve always been very, very busy, but international travel is just something else. I think in just one month, I did Canada twice, Mexico, Paris, Berlin, and then a few shows in Chicago, but I’m going back and forth, and I know a lot of people in the roster are wrestling, you know, elsewhere on major independent shows here and there, but no one, I think, has the international track record that I have just since April. I won this in April, and I think within two weeks, two or three weeks, this title was scheduled to be defended in, like, ten different countries. So I don’t think anyone really realizes the amount of work that just goes into not only setting that up, but then delivering on that and then arriving at these international (locations). Like, you know, I landed in Paris at 2 p.m. and by like 6 p.m. I’m performing live and then I’m catching the next flight out to go to Chicago, then to Toronto and then perform there and then et cetera. So, I asked where I’m not complaining about it, but I think that’s the biggest thing. Obviously these challengers have been amazing. I’m wrestling some of the best up and coming independent wrestlers across the world and this is what I want. I truly feel like I’m at the best of the best of that I could possibly be. I’m at the peak level that I’ve ever been at, but the thing that’s caught up to me a little bit is the travel. The travel does suck.”
