Mustafa Ali's Named Gets Shortened To Ali; Ali Comments On Change

The name is Ali. Just, Ali.

Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Mustafa Ali's name has been shortened to simply Ali.

Ali has already updated his Twitter profile, changing his name from @MustafaAliWWE to @AliWWE. He posted the following on Twitter, commenting on the shortening of his name:

His profile on WWE.com now reads:

A veteran of the cruiserweight wars, Ali brought his years of in-ring experience to Full Sail University in pursuit of the Cruiserweight Classic crown during the Cruiserweight Classic.

For more than a decade, Ali has honed his craft all over the country, squaring off with some of the toughest competition that both the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions have to offer. Hailing from Chicago, Ali exudes a quiet confidence that allows his action to speak louder than words.

WWE has a history of shortening names with Andrade "Cien" Alamas becoming just Andrade being a recent example. Heavy Machinery also lost their last names as Otis Dozovic and Tucker Knight are now simply Otis & Tucker.

Ali was a featured player on 205 Live before he was brought up to SmackDown Live at the end of 2018. He remains a focal point on SmackDown Live, scoring a tag team victory over WWE Champion Daniel Bryan and challenging for the WWE Title at Fastlane. He is currently without an opponent for WrestleMania 35.
