MVP has confirmed that he will be joining WWE's staff as a backstage producer. However, Montel Vontavious Porter would also say that he is open to doing more on-camera, but he is not the one in charge of those decisions.
Speaking with Booker T on Booker's Hall of Fame podcast, MVP would confirm reports that he is ending his in-ring career to join WWE's behind-the-scenes crew.
?Well, look, I'll say this. I'm gonna go ahead, I'm gonna give you the scoop. Whether or not I'll be seen on WWE television more has yet to be seen, because, you know, I don't make those decisions,? MVP began. ?I would definitely make myself available for an on-screen role in some capacity. But I'll be joining the team as a backstage producer, so, there's your scoop.?
When asked if he ever believed that this day would come, MVP would say that you're always aware the end of the line is inevitable, but more often than not in professional wrestling, it sneaks up on you.
?Of course, you know, one day the end is gonna come. You know, it's going to happen one day. But, when you're young and touring the world and you're making money, you're a pro wrestler, that seems like a million years away,? he continued. ?And then, one day you wake up and you got gray in your chin, your back hurts and you realize, '20 years just went by, what happened?'?
MVP would wrestle his last WWE match on the January 27th, 2020 episode of WWE Raw, competing against his son's favorite wrestler, Rey Mysterio.
