Natalya On Writing Her Book: I Appreciate My Journey So Much More, It Made Me A Strong Person

Natalya would never trade her journey.

As of publish time, Natalya’s new book, ‘The Last Hart Beating’, is set to release in just one day. Fans are eagerly anticipating the release, as it is arguably the biggest wrestling book in years.

Speaking with Fightful for a new interview, Natalya spoke about writing the book and how it made her appreciate her journey more.

“Yes and that’s the thing is that I wanted people to know, my family’s taught me so much. I love my family so much. But my family’s had ups and downs in the industry. So I think when I was trying to break into the business, there was a lot of turmoil going on between my family and the industry in general. So it was not easy because there was stuff going on and big stuff. But I would never trade my journey in. That’s the thing is that after writing the book, I was like, ‘I love that I had to go through all this stuff to get here because now I just appreciate it so much more.’ It’s like this journey made me such a strong person. I wouldn’t be the person that I am today without those highs and lows.”

Natalya then recalled some of her hardships growing up, saying that it helped her build grit and resilience.

“But people didn’t know that growing up, it was always feast or famine. I’ve heard people like Stephanie McMahon talk about it, her dad had to mortgage their house for the very first ever WrestleMania. People
don’t realize that even with my grandfather, my grandfather was a promoter. When business was good, they would eat. When business wasn’t good, no one would eat and they couldn’t turn their power on in Canada in the middle of a crazy 40 below winter. So that was always like our childhood is when my dad was working and things were good for him, we were okay. But it got more rocky as we got older where things just weren’t good a lot more of the time. So it helped me build this resilience and grit. But I dedicate the book to my dad. He’s pretty much the main character in the book. He’s the person I dedicated it to, but I think he comes off so human in the book. Like I think people will end up loving my dad more after reading it and going, ‘Wow, I had no idea that he was going through so much and he overcame so much.’ People are getting so much from it. I love that. It’s not a book about like; you’re not going to get me going off about wrestling for 300 pages. It’s about relationships and the people in my life that made my life so rich.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Natalya revealed that Bianca Belair was the first person to read her book. Fans can check out her full comments here.
