New Day Has Talked About Applying 'Freebird Rule' To Singles Title Or Money In The Bank Briefcase

Kofi Kingston says New Day is stronger as a team.

During New Day's Tag Team Championship reign, the three wrestlers would take turns defending the Championship and all three were considered the Champions via the 'Freebird Rule." In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Kofi Kingston acknowledges speculation that New Day will break up someday and what they would like to do as singles competitors

"All of us want to be top-tier singles champions. That’s the goal all the time. Now a lot of people think you have to break up to do that...We are stronger as three than we are as one. There is no need for us to break up," said Kingston. "We always talk about having the ‘Freebird Rule,’ or now the ‘New Day Rule,’ as singles champions or even with the Money in the Bank briefcase. That would be awesome, too," he added.

On WWE Extreme Rules, New Day will be facing the new Smackdown stable Sanity in a tables match on the Kick Off show. Fightful Wrestling will have live coverage and a recapping podcast for the event.
