New Day: John Cena Told Us, 'You Only Say Ass When You're Ready To Fight'

WWE has loosened the reigns on PG content this year with Kevin Owens saying "bullshit," Corey Graves saying "holy shit" and Kofi Kingston flipping off Samoa Joe. But for years, curse words and lewd actions -- crotch chops notwithstanding -- were few and far between on WWE programming.

Even John Cena, the face of the company for a decade, had to tone down his act, which included changing his finisher name from the FU to the AA. But there was one word Cena could get away with, it just had to be the right circumstances.

The Young Bucks: Expect Big Surprises At AEW Dynasty

Speaking on the New Day: Feel The Power podcast, Big E was shocked that he was allowed to say "ass" on the podcast after previously being told that he couldn't. Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston reminded him that ass was allowed as long as it followed the Cena rule.

"That's a real conversation. John Cena said, 'You only say ass in a promo, when you're ready to fight,'" said Big E.

So, "I'm going to kick your ass" is perfectly acceptable. But "You have a fat a**" is not allowed.
