Tonight on the latest episode of Impact Wrestling, Alberto El Patron dethroned Magnus to become the new Global Force Wrestling Global Champion.
Alberto defeated Magnus with his cross armbreaker finisher. He becomes the second Global Champion in GFW history.
This marked the second time a GFW title has changed hands since Jeff Jarrett announced the merger of Global Force and Impact last month. Earlier this month, Sienna defeated Christina Von Eerie to capture the GFW Women's Title.
Jarrett started GFW a few years ago after stepping down from his executive role with Impact, then known as TNA. The two promotions worked together in an invasion angle in the summer of 2015.
Magnus had been GFW Global Champ since October 23, 2015, when he defeated Bobby Roode, who coincidentally, is the current WWE NXT champion.
This is just the latest championship win for Alberto El Patron. A second-generation wrestling star whose father is the legendary luchador Dos Caras, Alberto was a four-time world champion in WWE and also held the AAA Mega Title after his first tenure in WWE came to an end.
