The Miz is the new Intercontinental Champion.
The 36-year old captured the title for the sixth time as he defeated Dolph Ziggler via pinfall on the 900th episode of Smackdown. Now that Miz has the gold, he'll defend the title against Raw's Sami Zayn at this weekend's Survivor Series in Toronto.
Miz was able to win the match with a small package after The Spirit Squad interfered and attacked Ziggler. You can see an excerpt from Ryan Cook's live coverage below.
It appears Miz has busted his nose as he mocks Daniel Bryan and kicks Dolph repeatedly, Dolph rolling him up for a quick 2 count then Miz hits a running knee into The Skull Crushing Finale for a very close 2 count. Dolph blocks a figure four then Miz blocks a DDT, Dolph hitting the Zig Zag for a very close 2 count, Miz getting his foot on the rope. The Spirit Squad come out and dropped by Dolph then Miz puts on a figure four, but Dolph gets to the ropes then Dolph rolls up Miz, but Maryse pushes them over and Miz gets the pin and the win.
