Nic Nemeth: I’m 23 Years In And I’m In Better Shape Than Most People Who Are 23 Years Old

Nic Nemeth has high praise for Leon Slater ahead of Bound For Glory.

The pay-per-view, which will air on October 11, will be headlined by a TNA World Championship bout between Nemeth and Slater, who earned his title shot by using Option C and giving up his X-Division Championship.

Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Nic Nemeth talked up his opponent before naming a key trait that he doesn’t have.

“It’s not one of those things where it’s like with several other companies that go, ‘Oh, this guy’s young and
cool and athletic and can do it all and he’s even good on the mic now.’ It’s annoying. I’ve been singing his
praises for years, so I gotta stop. There’s something special there and it’s not one of those ‘in another year
or two.’ No, man, when you’re good, you’re good and on any given day, the Browns could win a game and
on any given day, Leon Slater could beat me, but I really don’t see it and here’s why. I’m a fan of his, he’s
gonna be World champion. He may be multiple time World champion over the next couple of years. He’s not ready in a year or two, he’s ready now. I just don’t see where I would lose to him in a world
where I’ve gotten those reps in and sometimes that could be negative. That could be like, ‘Oh, I got banged
up, I got a bad hip and a knee and my neck hurts.’ I’m 23 years in and I’m in better shape than most people who are 23 years old. So those reps have only made me better and I think that’s a split second decision making to where I can assess a situation and boom, I got something to go. He has to hesitate and I think there’s still a little bit of light behind his eyes, so he has a little glimmer, a little twinkle in there. So he still thinks society is just and it’s a nice world and you could be friendly and make it without stabbing people in the back and stepping on their throats and he’s going to realize that that’s not the case.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Nemeth talked about defending the TNA World Championship outside of the company. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
