Nic Nemeth previews his upcoming TNA World Title defense against Jeff Hardy and what makes Jeff such an absolutely special human being.
At the iMPACT! tapings in Philadelphia on July 30, Nemeth is currently scheduled to defend his TNA World Title against Jeff Hardy, marking his second title defense since winning the title at Slammiversary.
While speaking to GOW Media in a new interview, Nic Nemeth was asked about his upcoming title defense against Jeff Hardy.
“That’s a great question because it’s a totally different mindset going into another title match, and it’s like, ‘hey, everything’s on the line here.’ It’s fun to be like, ‘hey, this is cool.’ These guys have been around forever, former world champions. That’s a fun marquee. But it comes down to like, ‘hey, man, if I lose this match, I had a couple week run as champion,’ and that breaks my heart. So Jeff is so special to crowds, to fans forever, to the backstage area of TNA, he’s special. But when it comes down to this match, I absolutely know that he’s another one. Like I just said, KC was willing to do anything. Who’s willing to do more than Jeff? Jeff will do anything. But instead of saying anything, I go through anything and things that I can’t think of in my mind, and I’m someone who thinks about the entire match going forward, the 40,000 different ways you can go, and he invents a 40,001 version of that. So it’s like, I know that he will go above and beyond to anything, put his body on the line just to get a chance to beat me, and he has that experience. When you have it, we both have it. We go back and forth, and now it’s a mental game out there too. I go, I’ll never be tired. I will never be out of shape in any way, shape, or form. So that is always my default setting when it comes down to it. He beats me mentally. He beats me physically. We’re going back and forth. I know that when it comes down to the last couple seconds, two and a half, three, I’m kicking out. I know that if I can just get behind him, hit the finish, I’ll get him, and I love what Jeff and the Hardys have done for TNA. I can’t stress this enough, behind the scenes and in the ring. But when it comes down to it, Jeff is an absolutely special human being, and the only thing he lacks, in my opinion, as an opponent, is that stab you right in the back and step on your throat to get ahead. I really think the one thing is, if it came down to one split second between us, I don’t hesitate. I take it, crack him in the mouth, and win. I think when it comes to Jeff just being just that much more human than me, and he takes a half second, that’s the difference, and that’s why that match is going to be so close and so good. But I think the one key difference is he’s a nice guy in real life willing to put his entire body on the line.”
TNA also today announced that they were inviting LeBron James to the event where Nemeth and Hardy will face off. You can read more about that here.
