For those who are unaware, Segura made some distasteful remarks about the industry and its fans back in 2020. The comedian received a ton of backlash at the time. This prompted Nic Nemeth to reach out to him in on social media with a public statement, even offering to discuss the wrestling business with him.

While speaking with WrestleZone for a new interview, Nemeth confirmed that Segura did reach out to him after his statement, noting that nothing came out of it because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Oh yeah, instantly he immediately DMd me, but I think it was during COVID or something because he goes, ‘Can you get to LA tomorrow and be on my show?’ I was like, ‘I’d gladly be there, but LA is shut down.’ He’s like, ‘If you’re in LA, we can find a way to where we’re in different rooms.’ But I couldn’t get in anywhere."

Nemeth went on to state that he believes the comments were taken out of context given the nature of Segura and Pazsitzky's comedy show.

"I think Segura and Christina Pazsitzky are freaking hilarious. Again, so many people forgot what I wrote in the tweet, I was like hey man, I’d be happy to come. I love comedy, I think you guys are funny. If this is a bit, hey, that’s awesome. I totally understand. It was out of context and so many people were like, ‘You believe this clip?’ I’m like, ‘Well, what’s the rest of it?’ It’s a comedy show where they make a bunch of jokes and they say, ‘You’re stupid if you like wrestling. You’re dumb if you like the NFL.’ Then goes give minutes later saying how wrestling is awesome."

Nemeth continued on and compared Segura's comments to The Rock's recent comments about the industry being fake.

"So, I don’t know the situation. I’m happy to be there and represent and stand up for wrestling at any point of the way because what’s different than what Segura said except for the language than what The Rock said, ‘Hey Dave LeGrega, wrestling’s fake, we’re all buddies. Don’t worry about it.’ So like, that’s stupid. That’s dumb. But he’s in the business and representing a company. When it comes to those things, Tom Cruise and Mission Impossible doesn’t turn to the camera and go, ‘Hey, remember this is a movie.’ You’re like, ‘Yeah, I know, we’re in it.’ Expect for him, it’s probably real, he’s probably jumping off a spaceship or something. But when it comes to other people, why take people out of it, I don’t understand that take from people in the business or related. A comic making a joke, sure, but how often does that happen? Much less these days."

To finish off the topic, Nemeth reiterated his previous sentiment about how people don't go out of their way to talk about the fact that movies and television shows are also fake and staged.

Nemeth previously stated that he doesn't feel like he has anything left to prove in NXT, seemingly ruling out a future appearance for the brand. Check out his full comments here.
