Nic Nemeth Talks Being ‘Stuck’ With The Cleveland Browns, ‘We Did Baker Really Dirty’
Nic Nemeth can’t get shed his Browns fandom.
After winning a total of eight games in the 2024 and 2025 seasons, the Cleveland Browns seem to be turning things around this year. Led by Deshaun Watson (and all of his legal baggage), the team appears to be trending towards a potential playoff birth.
Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Nemeth referred to his Browns fandom as a “family heirloom”.
“It’s not like you allow it. It gets passed down and it was not passed like, ‘Hey, you’re going to enjoy this.
Here’s this family heirloom.’ It’s a, ‘Here’s the Brown’s shirt that we’re going to pass down and don’t worry
since the NFL has become a thing, they’ve never won a championship.’ ‘Okay, great.’ We got to a point, I
want to say four or five years ago, where I went to my dad and go, ‘Can we just switch and pick a different
team?’ He goes, ‘No, I stuck with these MFers. You’re going to stick with them too.’ So we’re stuck with
them. Every year we go two games in, we go, ‘Okay, there’s always next year.’ This is the year where
before the season started we go, ‘Ah, there’s always next year. Maybe we’ll get rid of Deshaun,’ and now
he’s playing above average football for two games. We still don’t want him there. We did Baker really
dirty. Cleveland loves Baker and I was rooting for him in that game. But I’m stuck with the Browns and
we’ll continue to root for them, especially tonight.”
Continuing on, Nemeth talked about the dire conditions that Cleveland residents face.
“There really is. It’s really funny because it’s basically true. It’s like the Browns, like everyone’s rooting for
them, everyone’s tough blue collar and fighting through and never getting ahead and you’re like, ‘Yeah.’
It’s one of the main reasons after 25 years I was getting out of there. I went—it was a different time, you
have to remember not everybody had a remote start to their car—in the old days, going to high school, I
would have to shovel the walkway to the car, shovel around the car, turn it on in my snow boots and
probably shorts and turn it on to defrost it and warm it up for 20 minutes, go back inside, take the boots
off—and of course a little snow went inside the boot—and you get inside there to eat your oatmeal, and
it’s still black outside ’cause it’s Christmas time, and it’s like you’re coming back to school, and it’s like
there’s snow everywhere, and it’s pitch black, and it’s so cold, then you get dressed, and you slide on the
slush and snow, and you’re like, ‘This every day?’ ‘Oh, no, it can only snow nine months a year?’ ‘Okay,
got it, cool, three months a year we’ll just have blazing heat.’ So you do have to be tough. It’s like, ‘What
do you do, go outside?’ It’s 20 below and there’s six inches of snow. Like, ‘No, I guess I’ll go to practice. I
guess I’ll do a couple more reps, get some sets in.’ You got to be tough and that’s really funny. Cleveland’s
a pretty tough town. It’s not bad asses, but it’s just people that never quit and we won’t quit the Browns. I
think that’s that attitude that keeps all of us pushing forward and making us successful, I think.”
