At Survivor Series, Smackdown Live Women's Team Captain Nikki Bella was attacked before the match. You can watch the aftermatch of the attack in the video above. There appeared to be many suspects in the assault. Fellow Smackdown Teammate Carmella has been embroiled in a feud with Nikki since the Tuesday after Summerslam, and Charlotte had a backstage confrontation with Nikki during the Kickoff Show. Smackdown "Coach" Natalya volunteered to step in and fight in Nikki's place, and even scored a pinfall on Sasha Banks before being eliminated.
Some speculated that Nikki might actually be dinged up, possibly from her run-in with Team Raw's women last Tuesday night, where she chipped a tooth.
But Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the Nikki and Natalya angle was the plan from the start and Nikki is not actually injured. That angle was planned from the beginning, ever since WWE brass designed the match weeks ago.
Meltzer believes that this is all going to set up a new Nikki vs. Natalya feud.
On an unrelated, happier note, Nikki celebrated her 33rd birthday with her Smackdown Live cohorts as they were in Kingston, Ontario, yesterday for a Live Show.
