Both have come out spoken on their situation and Nikki Bella further commented on it when Cosmopolitan Magazine did a piece on her and Brie Bella. Throughout the duration of their public breakup, both Nikki and John were heavily criticized because the public felt as if their breakup was staged due to it happening before the new season of Total Divas was set to air. Nikki spoke about that criticism and stated that those comments from the public tore her apart emotionally.

“When everyone was saying what I was going through was fake for ratings and all that, and when you're really going through it, it's like, you're just, in my heartache you're literally just knifing it and just churning it.” Nikki said.

Nikki then added that she and John Cena are at the point where they do not want to be the topic of conversations anymore and they both no longer want their public lives to affect their work lives.

“We’re both are at the point that we just don't want to be talked about at all together anymore,” Nikki says. “We don't want our breakup to define us or interfere with our work, and that was happening for a while.”

Both superstars have returned to WWE programming following their split. John Cena made his return to WWE programming at Super Show-Down and will be a part of the WWE World Cup, and Nikki Bella is set to challenge Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women's Championship at WWE 'Evolution'.
