Nikki Bella Says She’s Proud Of WWE Clash In Paris Match, Recalls Backstage Ovation Afterwards

Nikki Bella reflects on WWE Clash In Paris.

At the August premium live event, Bella faced off against Becky Lynch in a huge singles contest for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

In the end, Lynch came out on top, pinning Bella with her signature backslide pin. Many fans still showed love for Nikki Bella online, praising her first premium live event singles match since Evolution in 2018.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Nikki & Brie Show, Bella reflected on getting to actually experience Paris for the first time.

“For me, honestly, my career and everything I love in life, for me it was my own romanticizing life as Fearless Nikki. Here I am making a comeback in my 40s. I haven’t had a title match in over seven years. I have done so many things in Paris, but it’s been Bachelorette, getting engaged in wine country, getting married in Paris, everything was just always about love and my other half, right? But this was my first time experiencing Paris and what I’ve always talked about with the theme of this comeback is I’m not here to prove anything to anyone but myself. So, it felt like I was finally in Paris for me. I just kept having pinch me moments like, thank you god so much for this, for giving me the opportunity to have a title match in Paris. That was a dream for me, that’s a check off the bucket list.”

Bella then talked about the match with Lynch, saying that she received an ovation when she got to the back.

“The match, I’ll be honest, I’m so proud of myself. It’s been hard living where I live, hands-on mom, full-time mom, and when I’m mom, I’m single mom. Then, running two companies and having all the things but also making my comeback a priority too but nothing would be a bigger priority than [my child]. So, having all those things and getting these really big opportunities and not knowing — it’s not like back in the day when we were doing live events before the big match. I had to stay overseas so I don’t get to be in the PC before a big match, you just go out and do it. I was so proud of myself and it was really cute because when I came back, they were all clapping for me and it was really special.”

The former Diva’s Champion went on to highlight some of the things that she is proud of.

“So when I came back, I was so proud of myself. One, I was really impressed with my strength. You know, obviously, conditioning, that comes. I learned some new transitions and I just wanted to do some things but I was really proud of myself. It was cute because a lot of people pulled me aside and told me great things. I was so on cloud nine back there and I’m excited to know where I’m going moving forward.”

Bella finished off the topic by teasing that there are future plans for her in WWE.

“I’m excited about what’s to come in the story that I spoke about — there’s ideas moving forward, right? Those ideas, I’m really excited to get into because it’s going to be even different kind of wrestling for me that I’m excited to grow in.”

Bella was also sure to note that her match with Lynch was originally scheduled to take place on the August 25 edition of WWE Raw, but Naomi’s pregnancy announcement moved the match to the Clash In Paris card.
