On December 4th, New Japan Pro Wrestling would host their Wrestle Kingdom 20 event from the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan. The show would be headlined by Hiroshi Tanahashi’s retirement bout as he took on Kazuchika Okada in singles action, with Konosuke Takeshita and Yota Tsuji clashing for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship and the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship.
Following the event, NJPW would confirm the attendance for the show, with 46,913 fans watching on from the Tokyo Dome in the early hours of Sunday morning.

In the headline bouts of Wrestle Kingdom 20, Tanahashi came up short in his bout with Kazuchika Okada, having a farewell segment to close out the show. Meanwhile, Yota Tsuji reclaimed the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Takeshita at the event.
