NJPW Puts Out List Of Rules For Recording During Hiroshi Tanahashi’s Retirement Ceremony At Wrestle Kingdom 20

A list of rules and regulations.
NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi’s final match is taking place at Wrestle Kingdom 20 at the Tokyo Dome on January 4th, 2026. His opponent will be the current AEW Unified Champion and former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada.
NJPW pushed out the announcement that they will allow smartphone video recording during select parts of Tanahashi’s retirement ceremony. The timing for when it is allowed will be announced at the venue on show day. NJPW asks that people refrain from recording until the announcement is made. The videos can be posted to social media if they are 60 seconds or shorter. NJPW asks that posters use the hashtags #njwk20 and #TanahashiRetirement
Recording is only permitted with smartphones or mobile phones. Still images (photos/screenshots) can be taken using DSLR cameras, digital cameras, or similar equipment.
The following list of recording methods is prohibited:
- Recording using DSLR cameras, digital cameras, camcorders, and tablets
- Filming using monopods, tripods, and selfie sticks
- Filming above eye level, filming from locations other than your assigned seat, or filming while walking around the venue
- Livestreaming or video calls using communication apps
- Filming in a way that captures other guests
- Shooting using flash or other lighting
Show-goers may be approached by staff if any of the prohibited filming methods are noticed or if a disturbance is being caused to fellow guests, or if there is a disruption of the show.
If New Japan determines that a video posted onto social media violates their rules, they will request that it be taken down.
NJPW noted that they are not responsible for any issues that arise from filming at the venue or posting the videos to social media.
