NWA National Champion Mike Mondo Reacts To AEW Introducing Their Own National Championship
Mike Mondo reacts to some big AEW news.
On Wednesday, November 5, Tony Khan and Tony Schiavone shocked the world by announcing that AEW will be introducing a National Championship. The first champion will be crowned in a Casino Gauntlet match at AEW Full Gear. Notably, the title will be travel-based, with it being defended in other promotions outside of AEW like ROH, NJPW, and CMLL.
Just hours after the announcement, NWA National Champion Mike Mondo took to social media to react to the news, bragging about holding the only prestigious National Championship in wrestling.
Let me be CLEAR. There is only ONE NWA & there is only one PRESTIGIOUS National Championship that holds legit lineage & has for decades. So to Tony Khan or anyone else confused… here’s the legit title, with the company it belongs to & the legit National Champion! MY NAME IS MIKE… pic.twitter.com/U4t2cFlg93

Mondo also agreed with fellow NWA star Bryan Idol, who said that he could outwrestle any “pretend” National Champion.

Mondo won the title back in August, defeating Mims during a set of NWA Powerrr tapings. This ended Mims’ 350 day reign with the belt.
