NXT 8/19 Viewership Best Since November 2019 With No AEW Dynamite Competition

With AEW not airing Dynamite on August 19, NXT's viewership this week was the best it had drawn in 2020.

According to Showbuzz Daily, the August 19 episode of NXT averaged 853,000 viewers, up from last week's 619,000 viewers. This was NXT's best viewership since November 20, 2019 when it did 916,000 viewers. The two NBA games that aired during Dynamite's time slot averaged 1.705 million and 2.283 million viewers, respectively.

In the 18-49 demographic, the show also drew a 0.24 rating, up from last week's 0.16 rating in that demo. In the 18-34 demo, NXT drew a 0.09 rating and in the 50+ demo, the show drew a 0.42 rating.

The reason why AEW did not air Dynamite this week is because of NBA on TNT coverage. This week's episode will air on Saturday, August 22 and next week's show will air on Thursday, August 27.

NXT this week was the go-home show for the upcoming NXT TakeOver XXX event on August 22. The show opened with Johnny Gargano defeating Ridge Holland and ended with Velveteen Dream beating Finn Balor as the winners of both matches qualified for the NXT North American Title Ladder Match at TakeOver.
