After feeling like they had been passed over for newer, less experienced teams, Imperium's Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner made their Championship intentions known by attacking MSK after they had just defended their NXT Tag Team Titles in a triple threat match. Wes Lee and Nash Carter returned the favor, however, beating up Imperium following their victory last week. At the same time, they challenged them to a match at Halloween Havoc with the belts on the line.
Ahead of tonight's bout, NXT's fan of the night spun the wheel to determine the match's stipulation, landing on a Lumber Jack-O-Lantern Match.
The two teams had a hard-fought affair, but it was Aichner and Barthel who emerged victoriously after hitting an Imperial Bomb. MSK's reign with the belts ends after 202 days. This is the second time Imperium have been Champions, previously holding the titles through the spring and summer of 2020.
